This Sunday in Hollywood, the Oscars took the global stage, revealing this year’s much anticipated winners.  However, one winner was revealed early, and it came in the form of a Pilipino Coconut Vodka called VuQowhich was given away to those lucky enough to receive an Oscar swag bag.

The history of VuQo Premium Vodka dates back at least four centuries. VuQo Premium Vodka is based on an ancient technology practiced in the Philippines long before the Spanish conquistadores set foot on its shores. It is the same technology that Filipino seafarers brought to Mexico through the Spanish Galleon trades to create the now popular tequila. Coconut vodka was the drink in those ancient times, on those far eastern shores. It was, in a manner of speaking, a tribal drink, one that sealed brotherhoods and with which the day's bounty was enjoyed and shared. It is this spirit that VuQo Premium Vodka hopes to recreate and celebrate today.

VuQo spokesperson Giselle Arroyo spoke to ABS-CBN News' Yong Chavez about the surprising popularity among the Hollywood elite:

We're probably the most popular booth here. They're surprised at how smooth it is. They love the hint of coconut taste. A bunch of celebrities have mentioned Boracay. I'm really proud that they know Boracay. And they say, 'Oh, this is what I want to be drinking when I'm on the beach in Boracay.

The vodka drink is making its way into major markets in the United States, and is imported directly from the Philippines.  Based on this news, one thing's now certain for me, I'll be making my way to my nearest liquor store as soon as possible to purchase VuQo.  Sounds like the perfect complement to an Oscar viewing party done right!

VuQu should participate at the Manhattan Classic Cocktail Classic held during May at the New York Public Library on 5th Avenue and 42nd St. It could be a great show case for the Manhattan crowd!
