For some of the fans who have been religiously following America's Best Dance Crew, Season 5, it's been one heck of a journey. (Just imagine what it's been like for the crews who've actually been through it!) Anyway, it has been a journey of all sorts and last week's episode had it's own bittersweet memories.
The night started with the dramatic announcement of who, out of the top 3, had earned a guaranteed spot at this Thursday's finale. Surprisingly for some, it was the Canadian team, Blue Print Cru, who finally won America's hearts. Blue Print Cru jump started the night with the "Hip Hop Nation" Challenge. All the crews were given the same songs, in different order, and were all required to master different dance crazes from different parts of the nation. Needless to say, Blue Print Cru stood up to the challenge.
With Blue Print Cru as the guaranteed contender in this week's Finale, that only leaves Hype 5-0 and Poreotix to battle head to head for the remaining spot in the top 2. While both Poreotix and Hype 5-0 are no strangers to the bottom spots, it was obvious that both of them still wanted it more than ever.
Poreotix was once again, were praised by the judges for their ability to fully grasp the challenge and remain true to their unique sense of "Poreo." Hype 5-0 wowed and shocked viewers and judges alike during their routine as they blatantly called out both Blue Print Cru and Poreotix as they mimicked, in tasteful style, a memorable moment each crew had.
At the moment of elimination, the judges chose to save Poreotix, sending Hype 5-0 home. Not since Season 2 with So Real Cru had we seen a predominantly "Pilipino/Choreo Crew" in the top 3. As Hype 5-0 shed their tears on stage, the audience could feel a sense of deep loss and at the same time respect for this much loved crew. Hype 5-0's, Josh Ulep, continued to remain humble and thankful as he shared the last words on behalf of himself and his team. Week after week, Hype 5-0 continued to dance hard and their passion was truly felt.
The night continued with the "Last Chance" Challenge where Blue Print Cru and Poreotix were able to produce their own song with the ever-so-famous and talented, Swiss Beatz. Their special-made song was their very own labor of love as they danced, for one last time, to win over the hearts of the viewers. Poreotix incorporated a video game sounding track that help truly accentuate their "Poreo" skills, leaving the audience on their feet. Blue Print Cru remained true to their accurate, sharp, and hard hitting style where precision is a must and perfection is key.
So, there you have it folks, your top 2 contenders for America's Best Dance Crew, Season 5: Poreotix, representing the West Coast and Blue Print Cru representing the East. It's hard to believe that Season 5 started with the Regional Finals bringing on a total of 12 crews, then narrowing it down to 9 crews to compete, and here we are, at the Finale with the top 2 Crews left.
Their fate is in your hands America. Make sure to vote for your favorite crew and visit MTV.com for details on ABDC Season 5. this group rock man you need to brodcast this all over the country couz they rock so much and they have filipino dude in their group......!!!!!!!!!!!
First they won hockey. Then they won hockey again. Now they're going to win ABDC.
Blueprint may not have had all the OH SHHHHH moments other winners before have had (save for their Bad Romance performance), but they were clean, consistent, and always worked the stage like none of the other crews did. Almost all their performances had a great 3 second stall where time just seemed to stop for one quick pose.
And that Hey Daddy performance? Even hotter than 5-0's girl-on-girl kiss. And that says a lot.
