Beats from the East, a Canadian radio show based in Montreal, celebrated its 1 Year Anniversary last Saturday with Jay Legaspi.
BFTE is broadcast live from Concordia University's radio station CJLO and is hosted by Mister Vee, who started the program a year ago to promote Asian artists worldwide. The show was voted Best Specialty Show in 2010 by the station and has also garnered fans in places like the Philippines, Switzerland, and even Egypt through podcasts available on their home page.
Jay Legaspi, a singer-songwriter based in NY/NJ, is a fan of the podcast and headed up North to do an interview on what was to be their 50th episode in the series. He was featured in the two-hour segment which aired live this past Saturday, September 11, 2010 and is available for download on their site. The night was co-hosted by fellow CJLO DJ Emily Brass and together they talked about song inspirations, the state of the Asian music scene, and Jay's debut full length album, Picture Perfect (available now at www.jaylegaspi.com and iTunes).
Jay also sang 4 songs from the brand new album including "Picture Perfect", "Dummy", "T-Shirt and Sweats", and "3 in 1". In addition, Jay also did a beat-box/guitar rendition of "Ghost" from his first studio EP The.Tale.And (available on iTunes).
