The humble beginnings of AJ Rafael’s music career has blossomed from being a myspace artist into album making, international, touring artist. AJ recently finished his Red Roses tour in South East Asia. Produced by The Luna Co. and Manila Genesis, he and his band made stops in Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, and the Philippines.
His last show at the Music Museum in Manila was expanded to two time slots for more of his Pilipino fans to come and watch him perform for the first time in the Philippines.
Before the show on January 18, AJ made guest appearances on Umaga Ka Ganda, Happy Yippe Yeyey, and ASAP 2012. In his appearance on ASAP 2012 AJ was able to perform a duet of Micheal Jackson’s, “She’s Out of My Life,” with one of his musical idols, Gary Valenciano.
“I was definitely nervous,” AJ said when talking about his performance with Gary V., but AJ’s nerves were not apparent when he performed at the Music Museum in Quezon City. Instead, he was in disbelief with the crowd as they sang along to songs he released in the beginning of his music career.
AJ has been able to meet incredible artists over the years, and shared the stage that night with Kiana Valenciano, Krissy and Ericka Villongco, singing sister-duo from the Philippines, and a long time friend from Los Angeles. Noah Bartfield, AJ’s bassist, was also able to showcase a song from his new EP Album, “Let it Be Love.”
Before the set was over AJ’s fans surprised him in the middle of a song as they swarmed the stage to get pictures with him and the rest of his band. It wasn’t utill a few minutes later that security guards came to escort the teens off the stage for AJ to finish out the show.
As AJ heads back to California, his Australia fans wait in anticipation for the Red Roses tour to make it’s stop in Down Under in July.
