Greetings Bakitwhy.com Family!

For weeks now, Facebook has become an internet playground for online hackers spreading malicious content and pictures/links to users’ walls and new feeds.

Just recently, one spam message that has been spreading through the internet contains an "official statement," purportedly coming from Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, targeting the Pilipino people and blaming them for the spread of pornography. This statement vows to ban Facebook from the Philippines if indecent behavior still contibues, and has stirred confusion and anger amongst the Pilipino society of Facebook.

Original Statement:

Mark Zuckerberg – CEO of Facebook released an online statement regarding the spreading porn pics and spams. Released November 16, 2011 9PM Pacific Time Zone.

The porn attacks originated in the Philippines and are being published by Filipinos all over Facebook, our experts here at Facebook are doing everything they can to stop it from spreading any further (outside the Philippines) and to eliminate the porn and spam threat completely which have been causing other Facebook users ‘a hard time’. Filipinos should also be vigilant and report any spam links and pornographic materials. 41% of Facebook members around the world are aged 12-17 years old, we cannot be exposed to this kinds of things through Facebook. If this continues and more spams keep being posted, we will have no choice but to ban Philippine users from using Facebook. We at Facebook will not tolerate outlandish behavior and indecency.

Please be aware this "official statement" is a hoax - it is not true. If it were true, this “official statement” banning Facebook from the Philippines, has not been backed up by trustworthy sources, would have been made public to the worldwide audience. Needless to say, if Facebook bans a certain race/group of people, it would hurt its reputation of providing a free social networking site for everyone around the world.

This cyber attack’s sole purpose is to stir up anger in order to keep people away from Facebook, so please do not believe this statement made against Pilipinos. It is merely another piece of internet spam or "electronic advertising."

P.S. Only 33 days left till Christmas!
