The Filipino-American Symphony Orchestra, also known as FASO, will present Gala Night, its first public performance on Sunday, May 17th at the Saban Theatre (formerly the Wilshire Theatre) in Beverly Hills.
Joining them will be Stephanie Reese (Miss Saigon), Joey Albert (Bahay Kalinga, Dream Girl Filipina), and Pete Avendano, in what promises to be an historic evening for Pilipino-Americans.
Robert "Bob" Shroder will serve as FASO's conductor. A graduate of University of the Philippines (UP), Shroder's many previous musical accomplishments include being the Manila Symphony's principal flutist. He was excited to undertake this challenge of starting the area's first Filipino-American Symphony Orchestra, which had also been a dream of his friends at the Asian Journal.
Their repertoire will include European Classical music standards, as well as traditional music from the Philippines. The Gala Night promises to be an enjoyable experience for Pilipinos, music lovers, and community builders.
Tickets range from $38 - $100 and are selling quickly. Don't be left out of this special event.
FASO is also looking for volunteers to help the Gala run smoothly. Anyone interested in giving their time, please contact Bob Shroder (818-395-8936), or email faso@asianjournalinc.com.
