Breaking down the fun & festivities that goes with FPAC

I can feel it. It's in the air. It's that time of year where the Pilipino-American community is in for some treats, good music and the feeling of belonging. Here is a quick rundown of why the Festival of Philippine Arts and Culture (FPAC) is the place to be at this weekend:

F = Fun. Food.

Everybody wants to have fun. Who doesn't? Indulge in Pilipino food and support the "Buy Pinoy" campaign. Local artists and businesses were invited to the event. We already have the talent and the products. It will make your heart shout: "Hoy! Pinoy ako!" (Hey! I’m Pilipino!)

P= Pilipino People Power.

Over 25,000 people from all over Southern California attends this festival. Organize your "barkada" for a day-out. Given that you don't get to see, talk or even have coffee or dinner as often as you should, it will be a blast to have this reunion. Being in the company of good friends give a comfortable and warm feeling inside. Especially nicer is the fact that you gain an opportunity to meet new people and network. I am sure that there would be a routine of talking and laughing at the same time, poking and asking questions while walking down from one booth to the next.

A= Amazing Artists

I've always been in awe of Pilipino - American talent so I already know that everyone at the festival is going to be in for what would undeniably be a weekend of good music and show. I expect it to be good - how could it not be? Many traditional and contemporary artists will be presented on two stages. Think of international music festivals and art festivals. Imagine how cool it must be to watch and listen while enjoying the seaside location of Pt. Fermin Park in San Pedro.

C= Cultural Celebration

To date, FPAC is the largest Pilipino - American celebration of arts and culture. Nineteen years and counting. You cannot separate the Pilipino from festivals and the festivals from the Pilipino. Twins.          This is one celebration where there is a spirit of reform - in all creative avenues. It will be interesting to see cutting edge presentations of artists and performers and observe how proud they are to sing their own songs and enjoy cultural presentations.

Well? What are you waiting for? Wake up early this weekend and get your groove on!
