GABNet of the Mariposa Alliance condemns Israel's bombardment and siege on Gaza as an open war on civilians, targeting women and children, whose lives have been decimated by 60 years of occupation.
In cities across the United States - New York, Irvine, Los Angeles, and San Francisco - GABNet women took to the streets to protest the current Israeli war and occupation of Palestine. The latest all-out protest took place in city streets this past Saturday, January 10.
In its chants and rally speeches, Gabnet called for an immediate end to the war on Gaza and for the US Government to take responsibility for its hand in the violence against the Palestinian people.
"We have been demonstrating since the initial bombing of Gaza on December 27th, to denounce the Israeli occupation of Palestine. We know that without US aid, Israel could neither bomb nor invade Gaza. The US government's refusal to call for a halt on the bombings, all the while giving 3 billion dollars of American taxpayers' money to Israel each year means that the US is complicit in war crimes." said Catherine Mercedes Judge of Gabnet NY/NJ.
Over 850 Palestinians, including 270 children, have been killed since Israeli airstrikes were carried out on December 27. Over 3,490 Palestinians have been injured, the majority of whom are civilians.
"Gabnet is all too familiar with the violence and imperialist intentions of the US-Israeli alliance, as we've seen a similar alliance devastate thousands of people in Mindanao in the Philippines. The majority of these victims, like in Gaza, are unarmed civilians, and the first to be attacked, raped, and displaced are women and children," claimed Amanda Martin, Gabnet Los Angeles coordinator.
Gabnet pledges to continue its protest against the siege of Gaza until the attacks cease and the infrastructure of Gaza is restored.
