The first week of March is upon us and March Madness isn't only taking place on the college basketball courts. The Pilipino boxing Pound for Pound King is set to fight in less than 10 days in the glitz and glamour that only Jerry Jones' new stadium can bring to you. Here are some of the more noteworthy items that have developed involving the two main combatants, Manny Pacquiao and Joshua Clottey, in the headline bout cleverly titled "The Event", set to take place March 13 in Dallas at Cowboys Stadium

-Last week, ESPN UK was able to obtain an exclusive with Manny Pacquiao's trainer, Freddy Roach, on what he felt would happen after the Joshua Clottey fight, that if Pacquiao could not secure a fight against Floyd Mayweather Jr., that this would be Pacquiao's last fight. The United States version of ESPN picked up on that interview and decided to delve more into the situation, and asked various members of Pacquiao's camp their thoughts, including Top Rank promoter Bob Arum.

-All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. The same can be said for Manny Pacquiao himself. Last week Pacquiao visited the set of 'America's Best Dance Crew' and join his friend, host Mario Lopez. This week Manny made a return to Jimmy Kimmel Live where he was interviewed about his situation with Mayweather Jr, his upcoming fight with Clottey,

and gamely belted out another classic hit by Glenn Medeiros.

-Joshua Clottey is considered by many to be an afterthought in this fight, a mere punching bag replacement to appease the fans with another knockout victory for Pacquiao. A 7 page spread in the latest ESPN magazine depicts Clottey's journey to March 13, and all the hardships and obstacles he has had to overcome to even have a chance to win. A recent article on UK Reuters shows that this upcoming fight is much more than the biggest payday in Clottey's career that is motivating him to win, it involves a little thing called r-e-s-p-e-c-t.

-We're coming down the home stretch of the NBA season and into the playoffs and teams are fighting, either for home court advantage or looking to play the spoiler in the playoff chase… Here are this week's games from coast to coast...

LAL – 3/5 @ CHA, 3/7 @ ORL, 3/9 vs TOR
LAC – 3/5 vs OKC, 3/6 @ UTA, 3/9 @ ORL, 3/10 @ MIA
GS – 3/5 @ ATL, 3/6 @ CHA, 3/8 @ NO, 3/11 vs POR
CHI – 3/6 vs DAL, 3/9 vs UTA, 3/11 @ ORL
MIA – 3/6 vs ATL, 3/9 @ CHA, 3/10 vs LAC

Also, just in case you missed it from last night, Pilipino-American Head Coach Eric Spoelstra lead his Miami Heat into an overtime win against the Zen Master, Phil Jackson, and the Defending NBA Champion Los Angeles Lakers.

Count on Mr. JM to throw that Heat/Lakers bit in there... as well as the video of Pacquiao belting off the classic tunes of Glenn Medeiros.

On topic, I do feel that Tito Manny's fight against Clottey is going to be a lot better than people expect. Though he's not as good as Mayweather, Clottey is a quick, accurate counterpuncher who could give Pacman some trouble. Still, unless he manages to catch the champ off guard and knock him out early, I'm sure that Pacquiao takes this one home.

I agree about Clottey's quality. He's a strong fighter with a good uppercut. He shouldn't be taken lightly. But still, it should be fairly easy for Pacquiao if he takes it seriously.
