On July 17th 2010, 600 Pounds Events Company presented the largest annual Pilipino-American gathering in the West Coast with host Joey Guilla and Giselle Tongi, Kababayan Fest. This Event was held at the Knott’s Berry Farm theme park in Buena Park California. On top of an already a hot summer day in Southern California, acts from all over the US, and even all the way from the Philippines blazed the stage with their amazing performances in the center of the park in Calico Square. From the amazing up and coming 11 year old songstress Lianah Sta Ana belting out "And I Am Telling you", funny man Erik Esteban playing "Minny Pacquiao", and with YouTube sensations AJ Rafael and Jeremy "Passion" Manongdo hitting those perfect notes, no wonder this event was so highly anticipated here in SoCal.

In addition to all the up and coming Pil-Am Artists who graced the stage, there were also some very special guests who made their debut at Kababayan Fest. GMA Pinoy TV had a segment of the show wherein they introduced a handful of their GMA Artists straight from the Philippines. This group included R&B singer Jay-R and recently named StarStruck 5 Ultimate Male Survivor Champion Steven Silva, who made the ladies swoon while jumping off stage and serenading the many fans in the crowd.

The show ended with amazing dance performances from the lovely ladies of We are Heroes and the guys from Poreotix, who made the crowd go wild with their intricate yet playful popping and robotic moves. After all the performances, a meet and greet was set up at Calico Railroad Station not to far from the stage so that the fans who came would have a chance to meet the artists. They got a chance to get pictures and autographs from their favorite artists to top off their already exciting experience at this entertaining and very well organized event.

As the sun began to set and the event started winding down to a close, the feeling of Pilipino Pride was in the air, spreading all throughout the park. From the frenzy at the meet and greet area, to the Pil-Am Clothing Vendors in between the Screaming Swing Attraction and the Calico Mine Ride, to Food vendors serving up Sweet and Tasty Magnolia Ice Cream, to all the excited park patrons, the sense of pride was everywhere.

So, if you missed out on this amazing event this year, make sure to plan ahead and fit it in your schedule for 2011, because I am sure it will once again be another great event next year!
