Kristina Cassandra (KC) Concepcion, daughter of megastar Sharon Cuneta and original Philippine heartthrob Gabby Concepcion, headlined her first U.S. based show on November 12 at the Heritage Forum in Anaheim, CA. When asked about how she felt about "KC Concepcion Live with Matteo Guidicelli, Derek Ramsay, and Gabby Concepcion", KC shyly responded, “Let’s say ‘show’, the concert can happen later. It’s going to be a fun show with Derek Ramsay, Matteo Guidicelli, and of course my father Gabby Concepcion.”
The show was all sorts of fun! Southern California's own Krystle Tugadi opened the show with a few covers and her latest single, "Sunshine". Her dedication and passion for music definitely helped to get the crowd ready for an upbeat show. Matteo Guidicelli sang a few numbers, truly showcasing his musical theater training from when he attended school in Chicago. His charm left the audience excited for what may come next for Matteo. He recently finished starring in a successful teleserye (soap opera) entitled “Agua Bendita”. Derek Ramsay also took the stage, his first time ever to sing in front of a live audience. He opened his set with a few “knock, knock” jokes before settling into his song selections. The audience was left excited and giddy. Through his presence alone, he reminded us of his success in recent soap operas such as “Habang May Buhay” and “Magkaribal”. Derek has also starred in the movies “And I Love You So” opposite Bea Alonzo, and “I Love You Goodbye” opposite is real life girlfriend, Angelica Panganiban. He aspires to do more drama, comedy, and action movies, in addition to seeking more TV hosting opportunities.
Although Gabby Concepcion took a thirteen-year hiatus from showbiz, his charisma and humor were still very much apparent when he joined his daughter in a few duets. There was a mutual showcase of love, respect, and laughter as father and daughter shared their talents on stage.
This was the first production KC has done in America without her mother, also a sign that things are changing and that she is growing up. She is also promoting her second album entitled “KC”.
At the show’s press conference a few days prior, KC was asked about the comparison between her and her mother. She quickly reminded us that Sharon was 30+ years ahead of her, and that they are not of the same generation. To her, there is no competition - instead she serves as an inspiration and is a very supportive mother. She spoke of how her life growing up sometimes felt like the movie “The Truman Show”. When she got older, she would sometimes feel like one day a spotlight would fall from the sky, ultimately presenting a different reality to her altogether. However, KC’s reality is that of a dream come true. The show was a success!
"KC Concepcion Live with Matteo Guidicelli, Derek Ramsay, and Gabby Concepcion" was produced by Katz Entertainment.
