Actor Lou Diamond Phillips is currently participating in Food Network’s six-episode show "Rachael vs Guy: Celebrity Cook-Off." The show pits eight celebrities against each other to determine who is the better cook under the supervision of team captains Rachael Ray and Guy Fieri. The celebrity who turns up victorious at the end of the season wins $50,000 for his or her respective charity of choice.

Born in the Subic Bay Naval Station in the Philippines to an American father and a Pilipina mother, Phillips has starred in films such as La Bamba and Stand and Deliver, the latter in which he received a Golden Globe nomination for Best Performance by a Supporting Actor. He has also been a proponent for the Filipino Veterans Equity Act of 2006, even speaking about the issue of veteran rights in front of the Veterans Affairs Committee in the United States House of Representatives.

On Celebrity Cook-Off, Phillips plays for the charity No Kid Hungry as part of the team put together by Rachael Ray. Two of his fellow contestants, singer Aaron Carter and Miss USA 2011 Alyssa Campanella, have already been eliminated from the competition while comedian Cheech Marin, singer Taylor Dayne, *NSYNC member Joey Fatone, rapper Coolio, and Olympic gold medalist Summer Sanders are still vying for the prize.

Before I got to this competition, I watched Food Network constantly,” commented Phillips on the show’s first episode. “I want to be able to show, you know, some real skills here.”

The show currently airs Sundays at 9 PM/8 PM Central, but full episodes are also available on the Food Network website.
