ABOUT MAKINIG

Makinig, when roughly translated into English, means "to listen".

Makinig was created for the purpose of showcasing the nation's premiere Pilipino-American talent, while celebrating Pilipino-American Heritage Month and giving back to the community. Our aim is to use our voices, our talents, and our community to make a positive impact on the world. Hopefully the world will listen.

This year we are working closely with Hands Across The Sea. Hands Across the Sea is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to improving the lives of the people in Dumaguete, Philippines. HAS supports families in distress through educational support, employment opportunities, and dental care. HAS also works closely with Cadawinonan Elementary School to create more opportunities for students to succeed in school. HAS's primary goal is to help people help themselves so that they may be productive contributors to society.
