This past Labor Day weekend, nestled in the one and only city of Los Angeles, was a compilation of music and arts at the all day event known as “M.A.S.H. | Music.Arts.Soul.Harvest.” M.A.S.H. was a celebration created by Michael Agorrilla and M.oovmeant | Arts Enterprise that took place downtown at the THESEX. Utilizing multiple stages, the event showcased some of the up and coming homegrown talent from the sunny state of California and across the west coast. Dedicated artists displayed their intricate works for the public to see as they bordered the perimeter of the venue, providing an atmosphere where one would be immersed into the M.A.S.H. experience; involving both sight and sound. Not neglecting the other three senses, well known food trucks cycled through the event providing everyone there a 'mash' of Los Angeles culture. From “Papa's Tapas” to “The Greasy Weiner” to “Vizzi's”, patrons satisfied their hunger while also experiencing a small taste of what L.A. culture has grown to be - a melting pot of many nationalities united in one and area enjoying the fruits of each other's native customs.

Holding true to its name, the event highlighted a spectrum of niches within the arts. Within the arts, events including fashion shows took place where companies such as Absidee, Toms, and American Edge displayed some of the latest fashions in their clothing lines. Auto design was also featured as Leigh Guarnieri Designs was on site for people who interested in the field. Of course, there were many artists that were present throughout the day displaying their works; which ranged from urban to abstract to interpretive. Some artists even illustrated live pieces for attendees to watch right before their eyes. Poetic groups such as 'Propanganda', 'Da' Poetry Lounge', and “Poetic Reform Party' were at the event projecting their pieces that sparked passion, emotion, and inspiration from the crowd in attendance. Photography had its place as well as photography by Kristine Brigola was on display for the viewers on site.

In terms of music, an indoor arena featured uptempo performances from by artists like Deland & The Fuss, Iron Finger, and recent BakitWhy.com spotlight artist Krystle Tugadi took place; that ranged in genres from indie rock to techno to hip hop and everything in between. The outdoor stage highlighted the acoustic performers that frequent the west coast scene and are regularly found on the 'Youtube' scene, and artists such as VJ Rosales, Carissa Rae, and Stefanie Montemayor were introduced to public as their fans finally got the chance to see their favorite singers live in person. In between sets, the M.A.S.H. house band and DJs kept the energy going playing an electric mix of music that got the crowd dancing while they waiting for the next act to set up. Providing lighthearted banter throughout the day, the comedy group Lexationships was present as well, providing one-liners that hit home with the audience on multiple occasions.

Definitely a mixture of scenes within the art and music world was experienced at this event, but if you missed out on this gathering, there are plenty more opportunities to go and check out for yourself, just click on the links below. A very pleasant way to enjoy the Labor Day weekend, everyone in attendance was exposed to the passion and hard work of the artists at the event and took away a little inspiration to enjoy the music and art that surrounds them in their daily lives and add their own unique touch. ;)
