MESQUITE, TEXAS - Meet Chenee Cayco, a beautiful young Pilipina who is destined for greatness. She loves playing basketball and playing the violin, she has her whole life ahead of her. Chenee and her parents ask the global Pilipino community for help - she is in search of a bone marrow donor that can save her life.
3 years ago Chenee, who is now 11 years old, was diagnosed with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia; a type of cancer that is poisoning her blood and breaking down her body functions. She has undergone sessions of chemotherapy andradiation that gave her 6 months of remission, but her doctor told her parents that with a bone marrow transplant she may be able to live a normal life cancer-free.
Unfortunately, Pilipinos who are in need of a bone marrow transplant has been facing a difficult task since only .6% of Pilipinos have registered for theNational Bone Marrow Registry. What is seen as an impossible task is nothing if we put our hearts and minds toward a goal and give Chenee the blessing of a 100% cancer free life, because she deserves it.
To my kapamilia around the world, let’s look forward to the day that Pilipinos cease to be a minority in the National Bone Marrow Registry. You can help just by registering into the registry, by logging on to asianmarrow.org or AADP.org.
