If you live in the DC, Maryland, and Virginia (DMV) area, OR if you plan on being in the area on July 31st and August 1st, be sure to make your way out to the 2010 Asian Festival in Reston, VA for a fun-filled event highlighting the different cultures of the Asian continent. The Asian Festival will showcase food, dance, music, and fashion from the different countries across Asia, ranging from Vietnamese, Indian, Thai, Korean, Japanese, Laotian, Pilipino, and others, for every attendee to enjoy.

Each year, the festival highlights one country in its showcase, and this year it is the Philippines. There will be exhibits and demonstrations sharing various regional food, folk art, performances, crafts, and games. The Philippine Stage will also feature the Santacruzan, Pilipino dance, a martial arts demonstration, music, and of course a karaoke challenge!

The Northern Virginia Asian Festival is organized by the Thai Tennis Organization in America, with coordination by other Asian Associations to bring together these various cultures for one weekend. In addition to the cultural showcases, there will be a men's and women's singles tennis tournament and a tennis clinic by players competing in the local Legg Mason Tennis Classic. Attendees can expect a full schedule of entertainment all day throughout the three stages.

The Asian Festival will be at Lake Newport Square, 11452 Baron Cameron Ave., Reston, VA and runs from 10am to 10pm on July 31st, and from 11am to 6pm on August 1st. Because of the large number of expected attendees, it is suggested you park at the Reston Association Building (1920 Isaac Newton Square, Reston, VA) and take the free shuttle to the festival.

Oh, and as a reminder, with the recent heat waves that the East Coast has been having, be sure to come prepared and dress accordingly. Come out and enjoy!
