Pacquiao-Mosley Media Tour Kicks Off

Beverly Hills, CA - Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao and "Sugar" Shane Mosley kicked off the first leg of their media promotional tour in Beverly Hills, California last February 10th. The sold-out WBO Welterweight fight between Pacquiao (52-3-2, 38 KOs) and Mosley (46-6-1, 39 knockouts) is scheduled for May 7 at the MGM Grand Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada.

There wasn’t any apparent tension or fighting words at the press conference as both fighters proved to be the perfect gentlement outside the ring. When asked about Showtime and CBS covering the fight, the 32-year-old congressman from Saranggani Province stated, “More boxing fans can watch the fight. Good luck to both of us. My concern is how to entertain people who love boxing. I don’t want to disappoint them.” The 39-year-old five-time, former three-division champion took the mic next. Mosley immediately praised Pacquiao for his successes and gave thanks to his team and his family. When thanking Pacquiao he stated, “Manny is a warrior, great guy, great person. He doesn’t have to be angry to knock your head off. I’m the same.”

Top Rank’s Bob Arum led the press conference. His excitement and love of the sport truly shone through his admiration for both fighters. “Shane’s strength is fighting a fighter who comes to him. Manny doesn’t hide. Shane and Manny will shine.” Arum also added, “Shane’s been a bright star in boxing for many, many years. I am one of your greatest admirers.” When asked about Manny Pacquiao’s accomplishments in the ring, Arum expressed, “Just spectacular. He took the sport of boxing with him. He is what people around the world, the one fighter we can relate to.”

From Los Angeles, the whole entourage then proceeded to Las Vegas, to New York, and to Washington D.C. where Pacquiao met with US Senator Harry Reid (Nevada) and President Barack Obama.

The fight will be produced and distributed by Showtime Networks, Inc. as well as its parent company, CBS. Along with this change, Showtime will produce Fight Camp 360° as it chronicles the days leading to the Pacquiao vs. Mosley bout starting in April. The series premieres on Saturday April 2 on CBS (12:00pm ET / 9:00am PT) with three episodes including a primetime telecast on Saturday, April 30. Pacquiao vs. Mosley will be promoted by Top Rank, in association with MP Promotions, Sugar Shane Mosley Promotions, MGM Grand, and Tecate.
