Breaking down the WBO welterweight title fight between Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao and "Sugar" Shane Mosley

Pound-for-Pound Boxing King Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao (52-3-2, 38 KO's) puts his World Boxing Organization welterweight title belt on the line against fellow legend "Sugar" Shane Mosley (46-6-1, 39 KO's
at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, NV.
 
Charice keeps her version of "Lupang Hinirang" (the Philippine National Anthem) fast and traditional, Tyrese sings his elaborate version of "Star Spangled Banner", followed by Jaime Foxx singing "America the Beautiful"! To add to the star power, LL Cool J walks in Sugar Shane, followed by Jimi Jamison singing "Eye of the Tiger" for Pacman.
 
What's important to note is that, despite the image above, it was actually Pacquiao who was wearing the yellow gloves this fight in support of Gawad Kalinga and of the fight against poverty in his native Philippines, where he is Congressman.

Round 1
Both fighters start off respectfully and cautiously against each other
Pacquiao hits Mosley with a 1-2 combo
The decidedly Pro-P crowd roars with every P move
M makes a move, but P dances quickly out
M lands a solid R, followed immediately by a solid L from P
both men close out the round very solid defensively

Round 2
Mosley showing off his speed at the start
Pacquiao lunges to M's body
P lands a 3 punch combo
M goes to P's body
M hits a nice 1-2 combo, answered quickly by P's own combo
Ref warns both men to watch their heads after an accidental head butt
P lands solid body shot, flowed by a combo to the head
Crowd chants Manny! Manny! Manny!
P unleashes a series of combos to close off the round strong

Round 3
Pacquiao  starts of the round stalking Mosley
M engages & briefly backing up P
P landings a solid series of combos
P takes down M with a short but solid straight left that was set up by a jab
M is backing up, trying to collect his bearings
M is trying to hold on while recovering

Round 4
Mosley  starts of the round extra cautiously after that knockdown in the 3rd
M hasn't thrown anything for the first 30 sec, opting to backpedal & grab instead
M goes down after tripping while trying to grab Pacquiao
P starting to show his great rhythm
M lands a 3 punch combo
P responds with his own series of combos to close out the round

Round 5
Pacquiao  lands a nice right hook
P almost doubling up Mosley's punch output
slight break after another clash of heads
P lands his straight left with regularity now
M lands a couple of right hands to the body
P getting to work with another series of combos
M lands a 1-2 combo

Round 6
Pacquiao lands a solid left
ref once again warns against the head butts
Mosley landing jabs with nothing behind them
P getting more and more aggressive now
P backs up M with a nice combo
While this hasn't been the most accurate that P has been, M seems a bit tentative anyways

Round 7
After the 2nd R ko, Mosley not as active, not leaving any opening for Pacquiao
Both men clench
P comes out swinging now
P responds to some boo'ing from the crowd with a flurry of activity
M is backed up with another P combo

Round 8
Mosley starts the round on the defensive again
Pacquiao  trying to engage, but M is backing up and clenching now
M lands a jab, followed quickly by a combo from P
M lands a solid right
P is stalking M now
Announcers say that it's hard for P to look good against M's wiles right now

Round 9
Not too much action to start off the round again
Yet another head butt warning from the ref
Mosley's jab is looking crisper this round
P unleashes a furious series of combos
P lands a straight left
P lands another nice 1-2
M lands a low blow, but P shrugs it off and unloads another series of combos

Round 10
Mosley complains of a shot to the back of the head
Pacquiao still on the offensive
M is backed up to the ropes and clenches again
M tries to clench but P backs him up again
M is looking to the ref now
ref thinks a missed R by P (and a push by M) is a knockdown
P responds by going on a big rally
P looks really good right now
P is chasing down M at the end of the round

Round 11
Pacquiao  unloads on Mosley
M is backed up against the ropes and is forced to once again clench
P is showing his Eye of the Tiger right now!
M is pretty much is full retreat at this point
P's onslaught is forcing M to grab against the ropes right now
P lands 5 punch combos at will now
P ends the round with a nice dance

Round 12
Pacquiao is going full forward at this point
Mosley shows some signs of life
Hard for P to look good against a "defensive, retreating fighter"
P's punches landed is lower than his recent average, but he is doubling up M's output
straight left to the chin by P connects
Fans not happy with the performance of M

Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao wins by unanimous decision, with scores of 119-108, 120-108, 120-107, and retains his World Boxing Organization welterweight title belt!
