TAYO literary magazine will host its 1st annual TAYO Reading at the Beach this Saturday in Southern California's Manhattan Beach, where fans of the magazine and online community will get a sneak preview of some of the pieces that will be featured in TAYO's upcoming issue this Fall.
Everyone is invited to celebrate a day in the sun while supporting TAYO's community of emerging artists. The event will be at 10 Manhattan Beach Blvd in Manhattan Beach on the right side of the pier, under TAYO's blue tent.
"Team TAYO is so excited to be holding our first TAYO Reading at the Beach," said TAYO director Kristine Co. "Aside from producing an annual print magazine and maintaining an online community for the arts, one of our main goals is to engage our supporters and contributors in a variety of events."
TAYO is a print and online community of talented artists and writers, supported by several leading non-profits, business, and social networks. TAYO's mission is to bring together and empower the Pilipino American community through the arts.
The magazine has showcased original short stories, poetry, essays, photography, paintings, drawings, spoken word, and has done a wonderful job of giving Pilipino American artists a place to present their work.
Artists are encouraged to bring their work to the beach to share with the TAYO community.
"We believe these events are so important because they act as a forum for exchange of ideas and thoughts and give budding writers and artists the opportunity to be heard," added Co. "Plus, who doesn't like meeting new friends and hanging out at the beach?"
The Filipino American Network Los Angeles (FAN LA) is joining TAYO in presenting Reading at the Beach. Since 2001, FAN has provided the young professional members of the Pilipino American Community an opportunity to network and share their experiences, talents, and knowledge with other members of the community.
"FAN believes in TAYO's mission and is thrilled to be working with them to promote this weekend's event," said Amafel Andaya, Public Relations & Promotions Director. "We can't wait to bring the FAN, TAYO, and greater Pilipino community in Southern California together."
Refreshments and snacks will be provided at the event.
TAYO Reading at the Beach will be this Saturday, August 28th at 10 Manhattan Beach Blvd in Manhattan Beach, 3:00 - 8:30pm, in association with the Filipino American Network Los Angeles (FAN LA). All are invited to attend and bring their own work. For more information visit www.tayoliterarymag.com or www.fanla.org.
