San Francisco, CA – Mahal Foundation, a 501c (3) non-profit organization based in San Francisco, has a very ambitious mission statement: To enrich the lives of all people living in poverty in the Philippines. The Philippines is 7,000 miles away but Mahal, or its English translation "love", knows no bounds. Mahal Foundation was founded by Del Augusta, when a trip to the Philippines ignited a zealous dedication to support the millions of Filipinos living in poverty.
In partnership with ABS-CBN, and many others, Mahal is launching its 1st annual Balikbayan Project. This Project will last from October 1 until December 25 The Balikbayan Project is designed to collect boxes full of donated goods to ship them to the Philippines. The traditional Filipino Balikbayan Box, which literally translates to "to return home", is tranformed into a care package for thousands of squatter families in need. This Christmas, the project will conclude with a Mahal Block Party, benefiting the impoverished community in Laguna, Philippines. Donated goods are being requested at various drop-off locations.
DONATE GOODS! Donations accepted are: gently used/new clothes(suited for warm weather), canned goods, blankets, slippers and necessary toiletries such as toothbrushes, toothpaste and shampoo.
SPONSOR A BOX! Mahal is reaching out to schools, churches, businesses, families and individuals to sponsor the shipment of a box to the Philippines. For only $50, a box will be sponsored in your name/name of your organization and given to an amazing family in need. Every donated dollar is tax-deductible.
