College Park, MD – On February 26-28, the University of Maryland, College Park (UMCP) will be the host for the 2010 Filipino Intercollegiate Networking Dialogue (FIND) Conference

FIND, Inc. was established back in 1992, and has since grown to incorporate many schools throughout the Northeastern corridor, which stretches from Virginia to Maine.  Their mission is to promote unity and cooperation amongst Pilipino students at East Coast colleges, universities, vocational, and technical schools.  The network is divided up into 7 districts, with UMCP in FIND's District 6, commonly known as D6, which include area schools throughout Maryland, Washington DC, and Northern Virginia or the DMV.

This year's theme for the FIND Conference is "Laban" which is Tagalog for "to fight".  The three workshop sessions during the Conference are geared towards giving the attendees a means to learn about the struggles of Pilipinos in the United States, both past and present, and offering them ways to help combat or "fight" for their causes.  The speakers at the event are Jian Iza Custodio Zapata, a staffer on the House of Representatives Committee on Veterans' Affairs, and Ben Deguzman, Co-Director for Programs at the National Queer Asian Pacific Islander Alliance.

At the end of the Conference will be a cultural show, showcasing various Pilipino talent.  This year, the lineup will include various local talents and YouTube sensations including Melissa Polinar, Jay LegaspiIvy Rose, Kheem, Vince Lacsamana, Tito Boy Scouts Dance Crew, and spoken word artist, Alan DePerio, among others.

On-site registration is available for $30 for students of FIND Member Schools, and $35 for others.  For more information, and for directions to the University of Maryland, please visit the 2010 Conference web site.
