On April 25, 2015, Southern California’s 50-plus-member Filipino American Symphony Orchestra (FASO) will hold a fitting tribute to an arguably fundamental cultural component of much of Filipino America: Broadway. The diverse orchestra will stretch their strings (literally) to perform throwbacks to favorite Broadway musicals as “Annie,” “Evita,” “Flower Drum Song,” “Funny Face,” “Jekyll & Hyde,” “Jesus Christ Superstar,” “Les Miserables,” “Miss Saigon,” “My Fair Lady,” “Oliver!,” “The Phantom of the Opera,” “The Sound of Music,” “Wicked” and “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown.” Held at the Alex Theatre in Glendale, California, this show will be a rare analog to the media glitz of Hollywood and will take us to shining lights of Broadway.
The show will feature seasoned Broadway talent such as Joan Almedilla, Bonifacio “Bones” Deoso, Jr. and Clifton Hall, performers Djhoanna Garcia and Ninette Tenza, who will partner with up-and-coming singers Emily Ferrolino and Isabelle Ramos, and child prodigies led by Chelsea Chiu and Joshua-Kai Dawson. FASO will provide musical accompaniment with the performers, as evidenced by the exciting “The Sound of Music” segment. Young talents include Samantha Isidro (Liesl), Christian Avendaño (Friedrich), Tia Enroth (Louisa), Micah Luna (Kurt), Christina Blay (Brigitta), Sabrina Evangelista (Marta), Maggi Avant (Gretl) and Ian Luna (Rolfe)"
If you're in the Southern California area on April 25, get your fill of great Broadway performers, up and coming talent, and great music, purchase a ticket:
