Thanksgiving is coming around in just a few days. I'm looking very forward to the turkey (or turducken?) and pancit palabok and more that will be on the dining table at my Tita's house. Looking forward to laughing and creating new memories with my cousins, sisters, nieces, and nephews. And even the photoshoot that will undoubtedly happen with my family.
But as we all know, Thanksgiving is - of course - a day to give thanks (though yes, we should give thanks everyday). This year, I have so much to be thankful for. And to keep this blog from being an extensive list, I'm gonna go monthly!
January
ManilaStar Events' PIN@YPALOOZA concert. Working with an amazing staff, awesome volunteers, and such talented artists like Melissa Polinar, AJ Rafael, Chris & Steven Cole, and more… I'll never forget this night (and the days that built up to it). It was such a rush running what went on behind the scenes, walking around with a walkie-talkie, hearing and seeing everyone scream when their favorite artists went on stage… it was such an amazing feeling knowing that I was part of a great team that helped bring 700+ people such happiness. Can't wait to do it again (February 5, 2011 - PIN@YPALOOZA 2011!)
February
February 23rd, 2010, I became a part of BakitWhy.com. I'm speechless and have no words for how blessed and thankful I am for being a part of this team. What also left me speechless was the compliment my mom's friend's gave me about my first article on BakitWhy, Pilipino History 101: The People Power Revolution, who was also President Corazon Aquino's speechwriter. He said, "I read the article and honestly found your writing quite impressive. You should keep writing. There is simplicity and rhythm in your prose that speak both to the heart and mind." Joining BakitWhy, writing an article about an important piece of Philippine history, and getting this compliment… I have to thank Fred, Trish, Kat, Kaywan, and Jer for letting me join BakitWhy!
March
Seeing Piolo Pascual, Sam Milby, John Lloyd Cruz, Pokwang, Richard Poon, Be a Alonzo, Gerald Anderson, and Kim Chiu in concert. Or actually, maybe I should say becoming friends with Bboy Mangubat, who's helped open doors and opportunities for me since we met in November 2009. Salamat, Bboy, para sa lahat!! Palaging maging kaibigan tayo, ha?
April
Besides celebrating my five-year anniversary with my perfect other half, Jason Tran, on April 1st (yes, our anniversary is on April Fools Day), one of God's greatest blessings came into my life (and the lives of others) on April 23rd: my baby girl, my goddaughter Maileina Audrey. As my sister and I say, whenever you see her or carry her in your arms, it's like you're carrying the solution to world peace. She just puts you at ease, makes you laugh… just really the cutest thing in the world.
May
Many of my family and friends' birthdays are in May (August must've been a busy month), so I give thanks for all of them and the lives they've been blessed with :)
June
Meeting Sarah Geronimo and Erik Santos. Sure, they won't remember me, but don't you get giddy and feel blessed when you meet people who you think are quite amazing and talented? Yes, I do. (As you can tell by March and June, I'm a TFC fan. Yup yup!)
July
Getting a paid job! Not a big girl job yet, but at least something to help me out financially. Having a job in general is something to be thankful for regardless (though there may be a few exceptions…). Also, celebrating my 23rd birthday. Celebrating another birthday is always something to be thankful for too :). And getting my first DSLR! A Nikon D40 :)
August
I thank the parents of my family and friends who were born in May for deciding to have kids. Just kidding :) Hm, I can't think of anything for this month. I did see Maja Salvador in concert. I AM thankful for this month, I just can't think of anything!
September
I went on a special date with my boyfriend where we rode a hot air balloon and saw the Chicago sunset from it. Just a nice date in general, and I'm very thankful to have him in my life.
October
Seeing "Sa 'Yo Lamang." Maybe not too big of a thing to be thankful for, but I thought it was a very powerful movie that makes you thankful for family and life.
November
I'm hoping to fill this spot with good news I'm hoping to get soon… so check back for this one!
December
Secret ;) (no, talaga, it's a secret).
*A picture of part of one side of my family... not even half of us. We're a big family :)
