Tomorrow is September 1st!!! In the Philippines, the Christmas season begins once the -ber months arrive and doesn’t end until the Feast of the Epiphany. So I’m pretty much excited to hear song in this video.
I’m not quite sure why the Christmas season starts so early in the Philippines - no one has really explained it to me. And I didn’t even know about it until we had The Filipino Channel and I noticed all kinds of Christmas songs playing in September. But I like it. Its different; and by different, I mean it is not as annoying as it is here in America.
In America, it is commercialized and all about oneself. They forget it is a holiday. A religious holiday. They forget because of many things, but it could be because there’s suppose to be a separation of state and religion.
But in the Philippines, a country that is religious, it remembers that Christmas is also about the Birth of Jesus. And that is why I like that song (I’ve posted). It reminds you of that.
That, and it has Zaijan Jaranilla. The most adorable kid ever who starred in my favorite telesyre May Bukas Pa.

Thanks for this post. This is so true. I love that Christmas starts so early (all the 'ber months September to December). Makes the spirit of Christmas last longer than the one month from turkeyday to Christmas day that's typical here in the States.
Filipino Christmas is very much about celebrating the religious event. The songs, the fiestas and celebrations, simbang gabi just to name a few.
The parol for example is a very Filipino tradition that dates back to the time when Filipinos would walk to mass before the break of dawn and have to carry a "farol" a lantern to light their way to the church.
Enjoy the Christmas season!
I LOVE THAT SONG!!! I went back home to the Philippines last Christmas season and I heard it everywhere :) I'd play it randomly throughout the year and it always cheered me up every time!!! Definitely gets you in the right mood and spirit! Thank you for your thoughts!
Thank you! I hope that it got you excited for September (and October, November, and December) too!
