JM's BBM is back up and running once again. Although we have to spotlight our fellow Pilipino-American athletes, the revamped version will feature the top headlines in sports over the past couple weeks or so to bring a little more variety into this series as I am sure many of you who are reading this follow sports as a whole and not just our fellow brothers and sisters. With that out of the way, let's get into what’s been going on in with some Pilipino-American athletes and sports over the past couple weeks.

-Tim “The Freak” Lincecum has been the subject of moving teams as of late. The Giants ace and two-time Cy Young winner has had a pedestrian 11-10 this year. Although at face value it looks bad, Tim has had no run support when he pitches, as his ERA is currently 3rd in the NL. Along with teammate Matt Cain, the lack of help has spurned rumors that the two are looking to move teams when their contracts are up. Lincecum has stated that would like to stay in the Bay Area his whole career but only time will tell if he stays there.

-Mark “The Filipino Wrecking Machine” Munoz will make history at UFC 138 as he fights Chris “The Crippler” Leben for a potential shot at the UFC Middleweight championship. This main event will be the first time in the UFC that a non-title fight will be scheduled to go five rounds. Despite comments from Leben's camp that Munoz isn’t worthy to fight Leben yet, opening odds for those who bet on fights show that Munoz is the favorite in the public eye. The card will take place November 5th.

-A whirlwind of activity has taken place within the NFL since the lockout, which was to be expected. A couple of the top headlines as of late have been the inclusion of Terrell Pryor in the NFL despite his issues with the NCAA, the unexpected drop of value of Tim Tebow (who was born in Makati City in the Philippines, where his parents were serving as Christian missionaries) from expected starter to riding the bench as the 3rd string, and the Giants misfortune as their defense is riddled with pre-season injuries. New topics are appearing daily in anticipation of the start of the season as it begins in September.
