BakitWhy.com is always looking for enthusiastic people inside and outside of the Pilipino American community to help strengthen a global voice for Pilipino Americans globally.  If you have a passion for helping out, want to hone your professional skills, or want to be part of the "B-Dub" family, there's a number of volunteer positions that are waiting for awesome applicants as yourself.

All positions are volunteer and part-time.  The roles require above all dedication, positivity, proactivity and a strong sense of community mixed with a little talagang-crazy.

How do I volunteer for a position in BakitWhy?

Please select a role that you're interested in under "Current Openings."   Remember to sign in or create a BakitWhy account if you haven't already.  Fill in the form, copy and paste a cover letter, and then upload a resume, preferably in .pdf format.  Once everything's in, we'll get back to you ASAP about your application!

What kind of positions are available in the BakitWhy team?

We have many positions spanning various vocations, purposes, skillsets, and roles.  Positions span across functions such as community outreach, public relations, web development, graphic design, business development, resource management, content production, event planning, team management, and many, many more roles.

What are the perks in working with BakitWhy?

What's the difference between the four position categories (Administrative Staff, Supervising Staff, Contributor, and Specialist)?

Our team has four different job categories--based solely on the responsibilities and time committment required by the role.  We in no way encourage a heirarchy and all opinions and ideas are valued equally. 

Most of the BakitWhy.com team are contributors--writers, vloggers, correspondents, community managers, etc.--who are the heart and core of BakitWhy.  They are part of the representation of the Pilipino American community in their regions to our global audience.  Administrative staff serve a specific important coordinating role within BakitWhy--from resources to outreach to content creation.  Supervising staff, despite the name, are the "glue" to help put together the many pieces of each sub-team, facilitating every member with their goals and roles rather than being mean ol' boss.

What are "Sub-Teams?"

The BakitWhy.com staff is split into four major sub-teams: Business Development, Content, Public Relations, and Product Development.  Each sub-team fulfills a specific purpose to maintain and improve BakitWhy.com.  Do you enjoy numbers, organizational development, or project management? Try applying for Business Development positions.  If you're great with people and would like to run national events, talk with collegiate and youth organizations, or hub-bub it up with the media, go for Public Relations roles.  If you're into writing, video production, and general media, the Content team is waiting for you!  And finally, are you a tech-head, graphic designer, or general programming guru? There's plenty of opportunities in the Product Development team.

What if I don't have the listed qualifications?

Apply anyway! You'll be surprised at what you've accomplished!  Much of your volunteer, organizational, and job experience can be directly translatable into roles within the team.

What kind of time committments would be expected of me?

Each position has a preferred time committment, but we can always work around your schedule.  Common to all positions are a series of meetings, which are weekly (Administrative Staff, Supervising Staff) or monthly (All team members).  Most contributor and specialist positions require only a 2-4 hours a week, while the challenging and involved adminstrative staff positions may require from 6-10 hours per week.

Do I have to live in a certain area?

Although most of the staff is based in Los Angeles, California, our team is international! Contributor and Specialist-category positions can be from everywhere in the world.  Administrative and Supervising Staff are preferred to reside in Los Angeles, but in this time of high-tech doohickeys, we can facilate the integration of any candidate, anywhere in the world!
