PATAK Series: Pilipino Americans, Taasan Ating Kabataan!

August 12, 2010

What is PATAK?
PATAK stands for "Pilipino Americans, Taasan Ating Kabataan" which is translated into "Filipino Americans, Uplift Our Youth"

The word "Patak" in the Tagalog language means to drip, drop, or a drop of liquid. In terms of this educational series, "Patak" is symbolic for instilling drops of knowledge about educational, career, and life choices to our Pilipino American youth and community.

PATAK Series is a 4 part educational workshop series set to ignite a talent pipeline for leadership and success by informing Pilipino American youth and families about college and career resources. Thus, creating a wave of young leaders who are driven to fulfill their own individual goals and ultimately utilizing their talents to serve the community.

The PATAK Series is collaboration between The Office of Student Outreach and Recruitment (SOAR) of Lone Star College- North Harris and Filipino Young Professionals of Houston (FYP).

Who can attend?
50 Students of Filipino American Heritage between the ages of 16-20 years old
100 Parents

We are looking for the first 50 youth and their parents who can commit to attending ALL 4 FREE workshops. Students can be eligible for a Lone Star College-North Harris Scholarship Drawing if they and their parents attend 3 of the 4 PATAK Series workshops. Each participating daughter and/or son must fill out a Youth and Parent Registration Form.
