Pilipino-American student-run cultural organizations like Troy Philippines at the University of Southern California (USC) campus create programs and events to educate, engage, and foster increased awareness of Pilipino and Pilipino-American culture at the University, in the local, regional and global communities. On Sunday, October 19, 2008, USC Troy Philippines held its second annual Mabuhay Festival in McCarthy Quad on USC’s campus. With The Mabuhay Festival, USC Troy Phi aims to celebrate Pilipino culture while raising money for disadvantaged people in the Philippines. The Mabuhay Festival is held during the month of October, Pilipino American History Month.
