Aside from rocking the mic at numerous venues and events across the nation, former member of the rap trio Native Guns, Bambu DePistola, has become a prominent figure and a mainstay in the community - as an organizer and as a powerful voice for the generation.

This is Bambu, in his own words.

Walking up to Webster Hall in New York City last Friday night, you could feel the excitement from outside. The air was stifling, you could cut through the humidity with a knife, and yet folks came out for Pnoy Apparel’s Shirt the Kids (StK) charity concert. It kicked off New York style, late at night, in a studio fit for the event’s performers who came from all over the country to give back to the community.

Pnoy Apparel is taking the Shirt the Kids cause on the road again and they're kicking things off this weekend!  Joining Pnoy Apparel/Shirt the Kids for these fundraisers and performances will be a number of special guests and talents from all across the nation, and we're hoping to see you there!

San Diego will host the first leg of the tour on Saturday May 29 with Rocky Rivera, Kiwi, RRS Feed, ZION I, and more.

The first time Wes Gabrillo made me laugh hard was in 2006 at a Room To Improv show, where he was easily one of the funniest guys on a stage that was super-sized with talent.

Fast forward a few years later and Wes is doing the same thing, except to bigger audiences and in a wider variety of settings-- whether on a stage, in front of a camera, or working within the community.

SIPA (Search to Involve Pilipino Americans) will be the setting for Bambu's official Los Angeles release party for his new EP             "...Paper Cuts..." this Saturday, February 27th.

World Boxing Champ Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao led the exciting grand opening fiesta of Island Pacific Seafood Market at Canoga Park last Friday, February 12, 2010. Over 1,500 eager guests and customers awaited the legendary hero’s mini concert with songwriter Lito Camo and his MP Band. The first lucky 150 customers received an autographed photo of Pacman, while the others received gift certificates and t-shirts as giveaways of the event.

On Saturday, December 13th, the Beatrock store in Long Beach, California and Sights and Sounds presented an art and music mash-up featuring paintings by Los Angeles favorites Stuter, Alfie Numeric, Pancho, and many others. Music was provided by Bambu, The Committee, Flowethics and J-One, Fighting Cocks, K9, and Mass Movement.

Many came, and many got turned away.  The Pnoy Apparel/Alpha Psi Rho event "A Sammy Thing" (in reference to the cartoon character Sammy the Sun) at San Diego State University on December the 9th was so popular security rolled deep (police car and all) in an effort to "control" the crowd.  So apologies to the many people who could not get in and missed an all-star jam featuring the hottest Fil Am talent.
