The TriState area packed the Nicholas Music Center at Rutgers University in New Jersey for PnoyApparel's Shirt the Kids benefit concert on June 4, 2010.
More than 600 folks attended this showcase of acoustic talent complete with their posters and assortment of fan paraphernalia in the hopes of catching the attention of their favorite artists. Most importantly, however, they were all there to celebrate and contribute to the Shirt the Kids cause of clothing and providing the necessary materials to support the many impoverished children in the Philippines.

Bloomginton, IN - The heart of Indiana will be the site of one of the largest gatherings of Pilipino-American college students as the Filipino Student Association of Indiana University hosts the MAFA Conference for the first time.
MAFA, formally known as the Midwest Association of Filipino Americans, is the name of both the annual conference as well as the governing body that represents the Pil-Am Collegiate organizations in the Midwest. In the conference’s fifteenth year, this will not be the first time MAFA has held in Indiana, having been held at Purdue University back in 2004.

Despite 4-6 inches of snow blanketing the DMV (DC, Maryland and Virginia area) on January 30th, a number of fans and supporters braved their way to the Catholic University of America for an event known as "FOCUS on the Children", a benefit concert for the Tuloy Foundation. FOCUS, the Filipino Organization for Catholic University Students, put on the show, which featured local talents and a few YouTube sensations, including Christine "HappySlip" Gambito as the headliner for the evening.

On October 10th, close to 900 Pilipinos from the DMV (DC, Maryland, and Virginia) converged onto George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia for "Makinig II." "Makinig," meaning "to listen," was a show put on by GMU's Pilipino Cultural Association and the Asian Pacific American Council with donations and proceeds going to Gawad Kalinga's Operation GK: Walang Iwanan, which is aimed at providing relief efforts for those victimized by Typhoon Ondoy.

On September 29, 2009, AJ Rafael, fueled by the lack of media attention on Google News, CNN and Twitter decided to take it upon himself to raise any type of attention for the situation going on in Manila.
He used USream.tv, a lifecasting and video streaming website to start an online broadcast and help generate the hashtag #HelpPhilippines as a trending topic on Twitter.com.
