Longanisa, eggs, and rice; a cup orange juice; and a laptop loaded up to BakitWhy.com's newly minted 3.0 version. Not a bad morning if you ask me. As summer draws to a close and fall is starting to creep forward, let's take a quick look into the world of Pilipino-American sports and see what's been going on the past few days.

s BakitWhy.com was just getting itself established as an online hub for the Pilipino-American community, a funny thing happened along the way - Pilipinos actually started to break into the mainstream American media as focal points, not just as stereotypical, token acts. From the very beginning, BakitWhy.com made it an emphasis to expose and share the contributions of Pil-Ams in the mainstream media to the rest of the world, but never could one have imagined how ripe the timing was for such a venture.

One of the biggest challenges that BakitWhy.com has faced was covering three Pilipino-American Conferences, in three different regions of the country, on consecutive weekends. First on the agenda was the University of Southern California for the Southern California Pilipino American Student Alliance (SCPASA) conference.  The next week, BakitWhy.com members found themselves at the Midwest Association of Filipino Americans (MAFA) conference at Indiana University, Bloomington, and at the Filipino Intercollegiate Networking Dialogue (FIND) conference held at the University of Maryland, College Park.

Before BakitWhy.com’s one year anniversary, the web’s leading Pilipino-American online community was already making its mark covering major red carpet events. From an APL Foundation gala (featuring the Black Eyed PeasApl.de.ap) to Manny Pacquiao fight parties, just to name a couple; BakitWhy.com was on the scene to capture it all.

To give thanks to the greater Pil-Am community, BakitWhy.com decided to host a red carpet event all their own. This time, it was in honor of all their supporters and the key people who helped to elevate BakitWhy.com to where it was in just one short year.

After riding the rising tides of new media, diverse content, a thriving community, and many successes in connecting it all for Pilipino-Americans online, BakitWhy.com took the plunge into the next wave of its evolution with the site's 2.0 debut.

BakitWhy.com had already held a team retreat in Northern California within its first year of existence.  Not the biggest departure from its Southern California roots, but even going up the coast showed that BakitWhy.com was focusing on more than just the regional level.

BIG week ahead!

BakitWhy.com's new site will make its debut this Friday, August 6, 2010 at 12:00 NN PST.

At the 17th Annual Festival of Philippine Arts and Culture (FPAC) in 2008, BakitWhy.com exploded onto the scene to prove that it was more than just a blog or a website, but an actual connection to the community. Only in its fourth month, Bakitwhy.com contributed in a big way by being one of the media sponsors and had a booth not be overlooked at FPAC, which was held in Point Fermin Park, San Pedro, California.  With friendly smiles and welcoming displays, Bakitwhy.com continued to uphold the Pilipino tradition of family and culture.

The response generated from the very young and fresh BakitWhy.com was positive, supportive, and inclusive. Jeremiah Abraham (Founder and former Director) sought out to create a Team who could help develop and implement something bigger than your average Blog.
