During the 1990's in the bay area the graffiti scene was booming, In Oakland, the king of graffiti Mike"Dream"Francisco lead the way in creating masterpieces he made incorporating his own thoughts and beliefs that influence generations of activist and hip - hop artist and graffiti artist/crews today on the values of activism: radical education, social justice, speaking the truth, and the importance creative self expression that gave Oakland's Hip - Hop atmosphere/culture, a visual artistic picture and community voice.

To those who knew the king, he was described as a "well - outspoken individual that  was never afraid to speak out on the problems that his community faced," and teaching about the word "reality" and what it meant for those living in the struggle that "people die everyday". Opening the eyes of the public, bringing a whole another meaning to the word "vandalism" which is seen as a crime, he seen  it as a way to express the thoughts a individual that is constructive instead of resorting to acts of violence.

Mike Dream and his crew TDK (Those Darn Kids) influence the 90's hip - hop culture to wake people and those who don't know what was happening in the ghettos, the killing, police brutality and drugs and the social injustice that was going on at the time. He wanted to give a voice to his community that didn't have at the time. He life was cut short when he passed away last February 17Th 2000, victim of a robbery he was shot and killed. February 5th in Oakland is Mike Dream day, he became a Bay Area Legend, well respected and will never be forgotten.

I never met dream personally but he gave me inspiration of being that individual that the youth look up to bringing positive change to some ones life in anyway possible. Mike Dream lives on through his message and his pieces on Unity and it will continue to inspire generations to come.

"You can't give up what you see in the streets, you can dream but never sleep" -DREAM

-“7 Kids beat up a defenseless kid of Asian decent video has gone viral all over the internet.”-

This Video was one of the most disgusting fights I have ever seen by wanna be thug kids who think they are tough with their ski maskes.. it does not prove that you are tough..! seriously.

I bet you alot of people today who have seen this video of a helpless Asian being brutally assaulted  by 7 of his peers say these things- “Omg! that’s Awful!,who would do such a thing?, This kind of violence always been around the United States this is just the first time they seen it, Parents who immigrated here do not understand what trials and tribulations his/her son or daughter is going to face.We grow in a environment that is all about adaptation, we grow up around drugs, gangs, negative influences, its hard. The United States being the Melting Pot of Races of people who come here for a better life their kids are tested to enter new world were they believe you have to change yourself to be accepted. Face the facts United States invented the term RACISM, LA INVENTED GANGS.

iF YOU DONT KNOW BY NOW!

*ALOT OF PARENTS OUT THERE STILL GOT ALOT OF WORK TO DO IF THEY AINT NOT PAYING ATTENTION TO THEIR KIDS.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!*

Being New here in the United states coming from 3rd world country you are forced to give up your identity and adapt to a fresh new lifestyle just so you can be accepted into your community and your peers or you get a negative outburst of hate and derogatory names.

DO YOUR JOB!

Racism and discrimination is and will always be the most infectious disease that will always be found in the United States. Its just up to us when the hate will cease in the world.

# Spread Love Not Hate

A Pilipino Christmas Wish.

December 16, 2011

This Christmas Season we all need to remind ourselves on one thing, " anything is possible when you put your mind to it.

Reading about Ms. Lori's Gopiaos story made me think, about myself making Hospital Visits to my mother back in 1996.

Leukemia? i didnt even know, what Leukemia was back then, I was just seven years old at the time a skinny big headed kid who just like to stay on his Super Nintendo all the day  of course I did not know what Leukemia was, I just knew that it was a serious illness. My mother like Ateh Lori was also a nurse, she knew all of the symptoms of cancer known as leukemia so she went to the docter and he confirmed it, but it was confirmed to late.

My mother also went trough chemotheraphy, being the most religious person that i knew in my life at the time, we went trough many churchs she kept praying every night just to be 100 % Healthy to see me grow up being her last youngest son,she fought for it till the end.

everyday after school dad would get me and we go straight to mom's everytime the docter said they had to run more tests, she would be confined for weeks,  my mom even tough she was on her hospital bed would always tell me " to pray for her to get better, of course I would pray everynight for her. I wouldnt cry til the end.

My mom was terminal according to the docter she had only a few months to live. we went everywhere to my aunt in Canada , to the Philippines to my mother's home of Ilagan, Isabella, where i met all my cousins for the first time, of course i had fun, at least thats what my mom wanted me to do, spending time with her was the best times of my life being a kid.,dad married my mom December 28th 1996 ,Most beautiful memory of my life is seeing her happy wearing her wedding dress ,

Altough her body was getting weak, her skin geting dark, my mom kept her cool she still had that elegence and beauty that she had ever since she was young. sporting wigs letting everyone know even tough she was sick and dying, she was gonna go out with class. She passed away march 25th 1997Even tough my mom is gone she left me her timeless presence in the picture albums and portraits of pictorials that still hang in my room today, which gives me strength and inspiration to pass all trials, I miss her so much.I have endured pain as well growing up without her, I would have given up life early, if it wasnt for her because i know that i would never match the strength that my mom had but i know i can harness it because her memory will always be my enternal source of strength.

I made a promise to myself growing up the pain i have felt losing my mother that no kid should have to go trough that feeling, and those who have the power of making a difference can make a change for those who need that healing hand has to step up and help out.

We as Pilipinos are known for our kindness and generosity. Ms. Lori is asking for our help.  doesnt make sense that theres a milion of us here in the U.S but cant spent 10 mins to make a difference in return to save  someone's life.

We have the Eqiupment today that we did not have years ago let harness it.

Lets give Ms. Lori Gopiao the gift of Christmas the Gift of Life and the wishes of her children for their mommy to be 100% Healthy .

Find it in your heart to help those in need this christmas, a simple gift is anothers blessing.
