It was a shocker at the American Idol results show on Thursday, April 12th, when sixteen-year old San Diegan, Jessica Sanchez, was surprisingly eliminated with no precursor at EVER being in the bottom three. Because of situations like this, the Idol judges have the option to "save" the fallen artist and there was absolutely no doubt that it unanimous. As the shocking news was unraveling, Jennifer Lopez interrupted with, "Give me that mic. This is crazy! Yes, we're using the save. You ain't going home." The numbers definitely don't do raw talent any justice.
Sanchez wasn't the only victim to a shortage in votes. Elise Testone, who rocked Lady Gaga's "You and I", and Joshua Ledit, who sang into a standing ovation for a rendition of Bruno Mars' "Runaway Baby", joined Jessica in the bottom three. Randy Jackson retaliated to these results with, "This is a ridiculous bottom three, America." And he's right. It takes more than raw, goosebump-giving talent to win the American Idol.
This is a call out to all those who've Tweeted, re-Tweeted, Tumbled, Facebooked, and YouTubed Jessica Sanchez. There are hundreds and thousands and hundreds and thousands of you. You need to vote if you believe in her talent.
I'll leave you with a video of Jessica's "would have been" last performance this past Tuesday of Jazmine Sullivan's ballad, "Stuttering". Feel free to Tweet, re-Tweet, Tumble, Facebook, and YouTube the video - Just make sure you vote next time if you want to see the first Filipina American Idol in 2012.
