If you are in the New York City area, Jay Legaspi will release the music video to "Picture Perfect" at the Gershwin Hotel on October 23rd. Along with the video release, Manila Gorilla clothing will be unveiling selections from their new collection, and Jay will also be performing with his band.
The music video was shot and produced by JR Pena, Justin Mendoza, and Angelica Bonus, who arecollectively known as The M3 Crew. The treatment of the video and additional direction came from Amanda Yu as well as from Jay himself.
Jay Legaspi didn't start singing/songwriting until college, and even then he did not start off with the guitar. Initially, Jay began his musical career by rapping. Eventually, he picked up a guitar and continued with it, which led him to where he is today. Jay is part of a philanthropic group known as the "Sensitive Guys With Guitars," commonly known as the "SG's" who come together for charity events. SG members include Danny Katz, John Violago, John-Flor Sisante, Marq Romero, and Matt Sia.
Initially, the SG's started as an excuse to pretend being a boy band clad in argyle. Jay and the rest of the SG's decided to take it a step further and do something good with it. "Anytime we do an SG show, it's [going to be] for charities," said Jay. One example was SUKOB, a Typhoon Ondoy fundraiser held at Rutgers University that was put together by the Rutgers Association of Philippine Students and the Filipino League at Seton Hall. The joint fundraiser raised nearly $6000 for the relief effort.
Jay's debut album, "Picture Perfect" is available for mail order at www.jaylegaspi.com and on iTunes. He can also be heard on the hooks of several tracks including "The Blues" by Hydroponikz and "Sleep" by Deep Foundation.
