Thrashing to Great Heights: Record Holding Skateboarder Aldrin Garcia

Pil-Am Skateboarder Aldrin Garcia Breaks World Record
August 13, 2011

Bakitwhy.com would like to wish Aldrin Garcia, amateur skateboarder, a very happy birthday!

Aldrin, originally from San Diego, CA, first started skating when he received a Ninja Turtle fishboard with plastic trucks & green wheels on his ninth birthday.  Almost 11 years later and currently holding nine sponsorships, this 21 year old just broke the World Record for the Highest Ollie. Garcia made 45 inches this past February, beating the  previous 44.5 inches that was shared by Danny Wainwright and Luis Tolentino

After a couple of incorrect measurements and a few moments of doubt, he effortlessly cleared the 45” bar.  In addition to playing around with some of it, Aldrin plans to save his award money as well as help his mom pay bills.  Further developing his career, he will be appearing in a couple of skating videos and hopes to someday break the record again by clearing 47”.

Garcia talks about his world record

I'm going to keep working for it and make this a career. I hope you get to hear more of me. Bones is filming an am video that I'm working on and there's a new Powell-Peralta promo that I'll be in. And I guess I can try and break the current ollie record again and go for 47-inches.
